This three-piece wheel assembly (knurled axle with two

wheels) by American Train & Toy
is a direct replacement for Whittle Shortline train wheels
, compatible with Brio and Thomas Wooden Railway tracks, or perfect for the
do-it-yourselfer who wants to make LOTS of their own wooden gauge toy train cars!
Comes partly assembled, just slide the axle through your train car base, then attach the final wheel.
(Be careful as you mount the wheel. Just press it on until the knurl is covered. There is no internal
stop for the axle, so if you press too hard, the axle will break through the wheel!)
The food-grade plastic wheels are unlike any other plastics wheels.  "Food grade" is
used to make plastic picnic utensils. So, while your child SHOULDN'T put trains in their mouth,
this food-grade plastic CAN be safe to have in your mouth! I don't know of any other train
manufacturer that uses
food-grade plastic in their toys
