DESCRIPTION & CONDITION
Up for auction is a RARE and wonderful example of Bell Pottery porcelain of late 19th century to early 20th century.
This large hand painted plum branch motif drinking mug, painted by what appears to be "Gerald" is in used but near excellent condition for it's age. No chipping , cracks or breaks.
There is
very minor
age and handling related surface scuffing on some areas, mostly on the handle and base. The upper gilding ring has some wear but is overall intact. The plum seen on photo #1 has a small glaze chip that is visible and can be felt to touch. That said, it is nothing serious and can be touched up if you choose to. It actually looks like a highlight and will not affect having it displayed.
Overall, this very rare large mug is just perfect and will look great along your other BP Co. collectibles or in any other related collection.

Company Short History:
According to experts, Bell Pottery Co. of Findlay, Ohio, a company better known for its glass dating back to 1889. Ten years later it started producing fine china rivaling French Haviland and Limoges porcelain for five years, from 1899 to 1904 when they closed due to many trials and tribulations. Due to that short production period, BP Co. American porcelain pieces are considered rare and sought after.
