Fantastic and unique ceramic funk-art piece from N-Funk Ceramics (California, USA) in the 1970s by Nancy Funk (hence N-Funk Ceramics). These BLACK pieces are rare and very hard to find (since the color has been discontinued), particularly in this condition. There are two cupped hands the way you would cup your hands to hold water, and that looks to also be its original purpose of holding the matching tumbler, which is included, in the bathroom or kitchen. You could also use it on its own as a jewelry holder. It measures 6 inches front to back and about 5-1/2 inches wide at the widest point, which is knuckle-to-knuckle on the hands. The opening for the tumbler measures about 2-1/4 inches across. The back plate measures 3-1/2 inches across and has two holes for screws. The screwhole openings measure just over 1/8 inch. On the bottom of the piece the N-Funk logo is embossed into the ceramic, and there is also the original label that says MADE IN CALIFORNIA N-Funk Ceramics USA. This piece looks to never have been used as a cup holder, and is in excellent vintage condition. Please note that it will hold a somewhat slender glass, or you can use the matching cup if you use it for its original purpose. Both items are in perfect condition, as if never used.
