Description
Super hard to find arts and crafts pottery from the early 1900s, Shawsheen Pottery out of Billerica, Massachusetts/Mason City, Iowa fits nicely into this style. The founders of the pottery company, Edward and Elizabeth Dahlquist attended the Chicago Art Institute and the New York Art Student League prior to 1906 when they first started the company in Billerica, Massachusetts. In 1907 the couple moved their business to Mason city, Iowa and produced fine examples of mission style pottery until the studio closed in 1911/1912. This creamer exhibits a beautiful thick modeled classic matte green blended glaze with the mark of the pottery visible in the center of the bottom. The piece measures 2 3/4” tall and a little over 5” from spout to back of handle. I would consider this item in original condition with no major damage or repairs noted. I will mention for accuracy sake a minute fleck at tip of spout-possibly a bubble pop, several bubble pops on the outside of the body and the three visible kiln stilt marks on the bottom. I would consider these normal issues with old arts and crafts pottery. Please view all pictures as they are considered part of the description. The additional handling fee will cover the added insurance needed to ship this beautiful item safely to your home. All reasonable offers will be considered.
Please check back to my listing as often as I will be posting numerous fine examples of glass, pottery porcelain in the near future.
Thank you.
