Description
Cincinnati Art Pottery Vase with Applied Flowers, Marked “CAP Co”, 7” TallUp for auction is a very scare Cincinnati Art Pottery Company (CAP Co) Vase produced circa 1880/1881.
The CAP Co was a competitor to other very early American Art Pottery Operations in the Cincinnati, Ohio area that included Wheatley, the Dallas Pottery, and Rookwood.
The CAP Co was a short lived operation and pieces associated with this company are relatively rare to find in any & all conditions.
This vase is 7” tall and is covered in a pink coraline-like sandy surface with the
bulbous body having applied floral, leaves and stems decoration in high relief.
The body of the vase has
liberal gold applied to its surfaces.
It is marked “C.A.P. Co.” on its bottom.
The applied floral and stems have some damage as is unfortunately extremely common to this type of ware.
There is also chipping to the edge of one of the gold covered feet.
I use plenty of bubble wrap and Styrofoam peanuts during packing to ensure each item arrives in the same condition I shipped it.
I also require
each item be fully insured by the USPS mail service.
