  • Condition: Patina and wear. Some loose strand of the rattan weaves on the ax as shown. The connection between the shaft and head is not very tight due to that.

    Description

    Two Oceanic ceremonial weapons from PNG highlands circa 20th century. It consists of two pieces. The first is an ax with a wood shaft and a flat elongated head wrapped in finely woven rattan sheath with geometrical patterns Size: 25 1/2''L, 20''W. The second one is a digger with a long wood shaft with carved and polychromed decoration and a sharp bone tip. size: 30''L, 12 1/2''W.
