Description

Vance Faience matching Vases. 1900-1902 #177. Rudolph Lorber Design. J.N.Vance and Sons. Tulipiere vases.
11-1/4" × 5-1/4" × 5-1/4". Approximate measurements.
Both vases have crazing in the glaze throughout. Both vases say Vance with a F. CO. No. 117. One has a -"M " impressed in it ,and the other has a-"L" impressed in it with a little X impressed in the glaze. The one with the L has some minor damage which I have marked in the photographs as D2. It is free with the purchase of the good 1. So you are buying one and getting the other free.
Although I have examined both of these vases carefully I could have missed something very small and insignificant. The good one as mentioned has crazing throughout the glaze and 2 of the smallest holes have some separation from the mold. I repeat separation from the mold during the firing process. I have examined them areas carefully and they are not cracks .
These are not Avon /Vance faience. Anyone who thinks so has not done their research as the companies were completely separate with separate management and separate products.
Both of these vases are well over a 100 years old and should not be expected to be perfect. They are very rare and becoming rarer all the time.
Please check pictures as they are part of the description.
