    Description

We’re retired so we’re selling our stuff. Before our kids give it all to Goodwill.
This is a fantastic looking large and heavy pitcher or ewer decorated in the style of Picasso and signed in his name on the side which depicts the head of a woman (tete de femme), resembling the ceramics made and designed by him at Madoura Pottery.
The story behind these pieces as I heard it awhile ago, Luis(?) Padilla, a Mexican potter, created these but failed to obtain a license from the Picasso estate. If so, it’s unauthorized but not an illegal copy. It’s an original work of art in Picasso’s style. It’s extremely colorful and bold; it’s apparently pretty rare, as these were numbered and in the low hundreds; and stands by itself as a work of art whether or not Picasso actually designed it. Given the prices of his Madoura pottery today, this piece represents an amazing decorative value.
    it’s in mint condition.
