Vintage Shearwater Pottery Handthrown Vase

Description

Shearwater Pottery is a small family-owned pottery founded in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, in 1928 by Peter Anderson that is still in business today.
This small handthrown ribbed vase is about 4-1/2 inches tall & tapers from the base that is about 2-1/8 inches in diameter to the top rim that is about 3-1/2 inches in diameter.  It was finished with a striking almost iridescent green & gunmetal dark gray glaze  The Shearwater mark is impressed in the typical Shearwater clay on the bottom, along with the original penciled-in price of .50.  Based on the price, this is a vintage piece in very good vintage condition - no chips, hairlines, or crazing - but it does have a glaze or grinding skip on the bottom as shown .
