Tilley CS56 Picnic Stove - I purchased this stove new, when I was a kid,  from an old sporting goods store that was going out of business.  It came from their basement on their final day and was still in the box at the time.  Unfortunately box is long since gone since as I didn't know enough at the time to keep it. I intended to use the stove someday but never did and it has rested either on my desk or on a shelf for many decades.  Recently I've been tempted to light it but was warned that that doing so could affect its value so I didn't. It's time to allow someone else to enjoy it.   Finding a CS-56 that has never been used,refurbished, painted or otherwise modified is beyond difficult.  Here is your opportunity.
This would make an awesome gift for any collector.
SOME DETAILS:
While the burner cap (very top center) appears the way metal may if heat is applied to it I can only assume they are heated when they formed into shape at the factory.  I don't honestly know. You shoud know that the stove has some minor flaws.  The vaporizer (vapouriser) has some surface rust at the base (see photo) and so does the pot support here and there on the black wire support rings and at the very bottom where the legs attach to the tank.  The pump works well.  The stove appears to hold pressure.  If I open the valve after 20 or 20 pumps I can hear air slowly escaping.  The leather pump cup for the plunger as well as the seals on the tank all appear fine.  Most of the label on the underside is gone (see photo) The bottom of the tank (outside) is smooth and without scratches.  It's very apparent that the stove has never been placed on the ground.  Included are copies of the specifications, care, maintenance and lighting instructions as well as a parts list.  The originals have long since been misplaced.
I am not an expert on these stoves.  I simply appreciate their craftsmanship and beauty.  The information above is honest and is provided, to the best of my ability to let you know what you are buying. Any error or omission is thru a lack of knowledge or mistake but not intentional.
