    Description

Beautiful pair of Westerwald Pottery (Pennsylvania) blue/grey stoneware pottery pieces, including a lidded crock and pitcher. Each piece is signed (Phil Shaltenbrand?) and dated (1988) by the artist on the bottom; wheel-thrown, brush decorated and kiln fired at 2300 degrees Fahrenheit, lead-free glazes. Both pieces include the original Westerwald Pottery information card.
The jug is approximately 7" tall with a nearly 4" diameter at the bottom, and the lidded crock is about 5" tall (including the top knob on the lid) and 4 1/4" diameter at the bottom. Together they weigh in at around 3 lbs. 10 oz. Both reflect the perfect imperfections of a handmade pottery piece, including some roughness here and there along the edges and on the bottom, and a lid that is very slightly askew. Charming.
I believe this pottery was on display only, as there are small green felt protective dots applied to the bottoms. A lovely pair of Westerwald Pottery pieces!
    Thank you for looking~
