Description
Here is a very nice William J Walley Pottery spherical vase, glazed in a semimatte blue speckled and curdled
glaze. Walley used a wide variety of glazes, more than the Grueby or
Merrimac
Potteries to whom his work is often compared. The pottery was located in West Sterling Massachusetts where he began in 1898, making everything by hand. He died in 1919. Die-stamped WJW. It measures about 3 5/8 inches tall and 5 1/4 inches in diameter at the widest. It is in great condition with no
chips, cracks, repairs, or firing flaws. A good piece of New England Arts & Crafts era art pottery. If you have any questions please click on our username or visit our store page and feel free to email through the gallery or call Jim Messineo at JMW Gallery.
